General Motors Utilizes New Seatbelt to Keep 5-star Rating.

General Motors is always trying to improve its safety to their customers.  Because the first line of defense is your seatbelt should an accident occur, GM has begun retrofitting their vehicles with an updated latching system for their seatbelts.  This system is supposed to give great flexibility for the airbags and the seatbelt to work together.  With this increased level of control with the new system, GM has been able to maintain 5-star rating on most all of their vehicles.

Even with the recent change and more strenuous tests that the NCAP has started, GM is still scoring extremely well.  These seatbelts are not the only reason, but they do help.  The new latching system is called the Dynamic Locking Latch Plate (DLLP), which is supposed to create greater control over the passengers torso, allowing for greater safety from the seatbelt and airbags together.
