How so? Everything he said fits the facts as we know them. There is NO evidence that this information gets transmitted to ANYONE, and believe me people are looking hard to prove otherwise. So this makes Steve look like he's telling the truth.

Free services are worth every cent you pay.
For those that whine about the price just try to get a legitimate IMAP email service for under $100 a year. Gmail and hotmail don't count, as by legitimate I mean that your address doesn't automatically make people think of SPAM. Free email equals source of SPAM.
Added all up and mix in its integration with Mac, Iphone and iApps Mobile me is a steal at less than $6 a month.
Oh and a two letter email address is priceless.
Now if they just made syncing and find my iPhone free with the full service as an paid upgrade. sort of a freemium model. that could work.

Not sure what you guys think about this, but I think it would make sense on the iPhone if they somehow integrate iAds into it... otherwise I'm not sure why they would take a $99 service and make it free.
Because they aren't making any money off it now and making it free with iAds built in could bring in more profit for them?
It's the same reason Google can afford gmail with 8GB of storage for tens of millions of accounts.
Apple could make a bit of a profit integrating iWork/MobileMe/Lala along with iAds.

To me, Tablets are worthless. I've had to deal with them at work because some people continue to order them for all their tasks, but they're less mobile than some laptops. They're usually the same thickness or size as a portable, so why carry something that's going to be crippled in some manner?

Math is a language we engineers, scientists, economists, etc... are fluent in.
To us this is not-ideal delivery method, but it has a definite meaning.
Looking at the thread, I think there is a clear dividing line. Native math speakers: scientists, engineers, programmers, etc... say 288. Others who are effectively non-native speakers may interpret 2 due to their lack of fluency.

Try using a calculator that uses the "/" instead of the divided by sign. You'll get 288. I tried it the way you did it on an old calculator and I got 2. But that's not the way it is in the OP. It's 48/2(9+3)

If Intel really can start shipping merom by early August (and we see another manufacturer or two ship such laptops), then WWDC would be a perfectly fine place to introduce new MacBook Pros. But I doubt they'll be ready that early.

288. Like the rest of us who actually studied in a field that requires math in college and work in such a field. ;)

Mac'nCheese: I think that in elementary school you first learn to multiply and then to divide. So first you multiply and then you divide.
That left to right rule is not following the order of the letters.
So for this case it is not PEMDAS but PEDMAS...
The Arabs give us the numbers that we use nowadays, and they do write from right to left.
So your math teacher is telling us that Mac OS X is giving us a wrong answer...You might need to watch waiting for Superman.

I just want to laugh at everyone when they release the Quicktake videocamera with a 60Gig HD and HD 1/3 CCD. What a beautiful videocamera. Life is good. Of course probably won't see this till Photokina but oh, well.

The way the equation is written, this question simply does not make sense. Parenthesis or something similar are needed to make this equation solvable.
You say you are fluent in mathematics, etc, but fluency requires proper syntax, which the equation simply does not have. If a professional gave me this problem to solve I would call them an idiot.

that example is based on an impossible scenario (according to the rest of the rules) because the hero has more HP than AP while the max for both should be the level

Probably nothing significant but I noticed that all but the standard configuration of the MacBook Pro now ships within 5-7 business days. Last night (Sunday), the same configuration shipped within 3-5 business days.

I'm not interested in purchasing a laptop yet... I was waiting for merom to make its way into a MB.... but also for Leopard so I don't have to pay $100 to upgrade in 4 months.
But, I also think the real update is with the Santa Rosa chipset... faster FSB... more ram.... 802.11N!!!!
Thats a big update compared to this.
I'm watching this though to see how quickly they update their models after a new product is announced, I mean its no longer like PPC days when they would be sitting waiting for the chip to arrive ... late....delayed...and generally just missing.... now they have to keep their computer up to date with the chips.
A quicker roll-out really would ease my mind, since that hopefully shows that Santa Rosa will be equally swiftly doled out.

I like you would rather have Santa Rosa inside with Leopard. I may go minimum Merom MacBook Refurb meanwhile. I fugure they'll hit the SAVE page by November. I seriously doubt laptop revisions will be announced. This event will focus on a specific message: we're in the movie download business now. They will also tie-in new products to take advantage of the movie service: new iPods and a Video Airport express.
The folks on the Tivo forum are speculating that Apple might invite Tivo to the party:

It is rumored that Tivo is releasing the new Series 3 machine on the same day (their HD Digital Media Recorder for cable and OTA). As the tie-in rumor goes, Apple would supply the content, and Tivo the platform to play it on.
Personally, I'd be surprised if Apple's venture into the movie distribution business isn't an immediate flop. The $10/$15 price-points are way too high when compared to what you can buy the physical disk for. Plus, services like Netflix offer a much better value.
